Verdant TCS

TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

SARA KROSSCHELL

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

10 get to know you questions with the woman who ensures Verdant TCS keeps growing and flourishing.

What is your role on the Verdant TCS team?

I’m the Senior Accountant which, by definition, is someone who does precision guesswork based on unreliable data provided by those of questionable knowledge. Lol

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?

I grew up and still live in Southeast Grand Rapids and am planning a move to Ada. I have a 21-year-old daughter. I enjoy yoga and good bourbon. Sometimes, partaking in both at the same time. My boyfriend and I have recently enjoyed spending weekends on our paddle boards checking out a variety of local waterways.

Before joining Verdant, I worked in public accounting and, for several years, in a higher education environment.

Three words would you use to describe yourself:

Analytical, thorough, resolute.

What does your typical day look like?

Every day looks a little different, I really appreciate the flexibility that working at Verdant provides. My job has very different requirements than those on the IT side of the team. Some days I’m working on more involved projects and reports at home, and other days less complicated tasks like payroll and keeping expenses paid. I am a night owl and have been known to enjoy working on a spreadsheet in the late evening hours.

What do you like most about Verdant TCS?

The team. Working with fun, intelligent, accountable, talented, and dedicated people make the culture and work environment the best I have ever been involved in. Mike has created this unique working environment that initially sparked my interest in working for Verdant.

Before working at Verdant TCS, what was the most interesting job you ever had?

The first job I ever had was housekeeping in a large 4-star hotel. Every day was an adventure working in a place with 1,000 employees and cleaning up after what were sometimes the rich or famous.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled, and why?

I have traveled more in the last few years than in the past 20. I love both the mountains and the beach. Among my recent favorites are Ruby Beach in WA, Key West, and Belize. We also frequent the Sleeping Bear Dunes area and have a favorite, secluded beach that we stumbled upon once on a hike and we look forward to spending full days there each summer.

What is the most recent app you have downloaded, but are yet to use?

Plant Snap for plant identification. I have a love for gardening and houseplants, especially orchids, but despise the gnats that live in them.

Your favorite piece of throwback technology:

My Gameboy with Zelda, Tetris, and Mario Bothers. I remember buying it at Kohl’s. It was the biggest purchase I had ever made with money I had saved up. I think it even still works.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tacos & a spicy margarita to wash it down. I am always up for trying out a new taco place.
